It’s that time of the year when delivery businesses are ramping up their efforts to handle a heavier-than-usual load of packages through the Christmas holiday.
According to each company’s website, Federal Express’ busiest shipping day was Monday, the U.S. Postal Service’s will be next Monday and United Parcel Services’ will be Dec. 20.
Toby Kiker, owner of The UPS Store in Midland and Odessa, said the holiday shipping season, much like the holiday shopping season, begins the day after Thanksgiving.
“During this time, both stores together handle between 2,500-3,000 packages a week,” Kiker said.
On Tuesday, both stores received between 400-500 packages. Kiker said the average daily amount is between 70-100.
