The national Polish postal operator, Poczta Polska, has announced that it is collaborating with SwipBox, a Danish parcel locker and software operator.

Poczta Polska will deliver parcels through the existing agnostic network that SwipBox has developed for the Polish market, which currently consists of nearly 150 parcel lockers in Biedronka stores.

Michał Czechowski, Managing Director of SwipBox Polska, said:  “SwipBox is helping to address the demand for automated parcel delivery service points in Poland, as the demand has increased in the last few years. Parcel locker solutions are not only popular due to the convenience for customers, but they also help to reduce the costs of delivery. These factors benefit the entire e-commerce market in Poland. We are very pleased that we can expand the network of parcel lockers in Poland in collaboration with Poczta Polska, giving the market the freedom to select their preferred delivery solution.”

The market potential of the state-owned company for last mile delivery is currently estimated at nearly 1 billion Polish Zlotys per year. Looking towards 2023, Poczta Polska is aiming to double the revenue in this area and estimates that the total revenue of this area will rise over the next years, exceeding traditional delivery.

In December 2018, Poczta Polska’s service PICK UP FACILITY was used twice as often by Poczta Polska customers as in 2017. In 2018, the number of parcels going through the PICK UP FACILITY service increased by 60% compared to 2017.

In December 2018 alone, twice as many parcels were delivered through the Click & Collect service points as in December 2017. It is expected that the flow of parcels going through the facilities will reach at least 150% in 2019.

“Poczta Polska is the only Polish courier and logistics company operating in Central and Eastern Europe. Poczta Polska relies on modern solutions that will optimise deliveries, and with SwipBox as a partner, the optimisation of the first and last mile of delivery is a natural next step to improve the services even further,” says Przemysław Sypniewski, President of the Management Board of Poczta Polska S.A.

In a pilot phase, SwipBox will make 200 parcel lockers available for Poczta Polska at attractive locations in Biedronka stores and post offices. Indoor parcel lockers will be accessible for customers during the venue’s business hours.

“We currently have nearly 150 parcel lockers in our stores. The expansions in the key locations will grant more Biedronka customers the opportunity to use the parcel pick up service during daily shopping. We can see that the popularity of the parcel locker solution is increasing among our customers, as it is very convenient and saves time,” says Michał Szlęzak, Senior Manager, Real Estate Department at Biedronka, which is owned by Jeronimo Martins.

SwipBox is a Danish developer and operator of parcel lockers. The company has been providing hardware and software solutions for logistics, retail market and consumers since 2012.
